Working out is a lot like work in general. There are some days when you wake up at the crack of dawn and bound out of bed with enough energy to beat Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France. And then there are those days when even hitting the snooze button requires too much work, and you know that your lunch hour won't come soon enough.

Too bad you've already given up your morning iced, tall, nonfat, no-whip white mocha with an extra shot... and no, you've promised yourself you won't cheat today. So, what's a girl with no vices to do when in desperate need of a morning or midday jolt?

The Jelly Belly Candy Company has come out with a new kind of candy that they say packs portable power. The new Sport Beans come in two flavors (orange and lemon-lime) and contain 120 milligrams of electrolytes in a one-ounce pack. The company says the beans are formulated to fuel and replenish your body during intense activity by providing 25 grams of carbohydrates and 20 percent of the daily value for vitamins C and E. With only 100 calories per pack, they won't pack on the pounds either.

The packets of Sport Beans are easy to throw in your purse, pocket or gym bag, but don't be fooled by their small size. Eating an entire serving is no simple task. The beans are slightly larger than their original Jelly Belly counterparts and have a much grittier, more sugary taste.

For optimal results, Jelly Belly suggests munching one packet before your workout and then eating additional beans as needed to keep up your energy after that. All we can say is make sure you've got dental insurance before making this yet another daily habit.
