BlockFi is looking for a Senior Manager of Infrastructure Engineering to join our growing team!

About Your Team

As a Senior Manager on the Infrastructure Engineering team, you lead our Cloud Data & Observability Engineering teams as a hands on, technical manager. These teams provide both data solutions and observability for the organization.

The Cloud Data Team deploys and operates our centralized data platform to manage the storage (S3 data lake), processing (Spark/Flink), and real time streaming infrastructure for the larger organization. They also manage relational DB’s (RDS, PostgreSQL, Aurora) for each of the applications. The Observability team builds tools to measure the availability and performance of the BlockFi platform (Python and Elixir). Both teams work remotely and are regionally distributed. 

Your Mission

  • You should provide low-cost, scalable, and secure storage, and support search and analysis capabilities on a variety of data types
  • Build and lead a team of engineers to develop and maintain data lake solutions for the entire company
  • Maintain existing relational databases (RDS, PostgreSQL, Aurora) for current applications and propose solutions that allow us to scale
  • Manage a team of engineers who maintain our observability stack across the organization
  • Partner with both engineering and business teams to determine engineering tasks for integration to the observability stack
  • Collaborate with senior members in the software engineering org to scale our data needs as the business grows
  • Lead other developers to design data models, and choose the correct data stores, to support orders of magnitude more customer data and traffic

Your Expertise 

  • 8+ years of experience with infrastructure engineering, with strong knowledge of data engineering concepts & observability best practices 
  • Previous experience building, leading, and mentoring teams of infrastructure & data engineers
  • You have production experience building distributed data stores in the cloud
  • You have production experience building and maintaining relational DB’s (RDS, PostgreSQL, Aurora)
  • You are comfortable collaborating with groups outside of engineering and translating high-level business objectives into technical strategy.
  • Capable and willing to roll up your sleeves to tackle complex technical problems 
  • Have a good understanding of system design, third party integrations, and a breadth of engineering experience that can be applied to design pragmatic solutions
  • You handle infrastructure with code because automation lets you focus on the more difficult and rewarding problems
  • You value collaboration, both for yourself and your peers, and are thoughtful in your communication and conveyance of ideas or opinions
