Who You Are:
Galaxy Digital Research is hiring an entrepreneurial and experienced technologist to build and lead Galaxy Digital Labs, an innovation space and incubator for new technology products, services, and startups. Reporting to the Head of Firmwide Research, the Head of Innovation will work with Galaxy Digital’s research team and other business units to identify opportunities for innovation in cryptocurrency, applied cryptography, smart contract design, algorithmic game theory, financial technology, and other adjacent areas, and conduct exploratory development on prototypes. Galaxy Digital Labs will develop an approach to understanding volatile and emerging technologies and developing in with innovation and security at top of mind. Successful projects could become new lines of business or products at Galaxy Digital or entirely independent startups. The Head of Innovation, working with the Head of Firmwide Research and other Galaxy Digital leadership, will be responsible for hiring engineering and other talent required to operate Galaxy Digital Labs, as well as designing and implementing a strategy for building and growing the department.
Our mandate at Galaxy Digital Research is to explore the totality of the cryptocurrency ecosystem with an eye for innovation and experimentation and Galaxy Digital Labs will be a pillar of that effort.
What You’ll Do:
- Interact with Galaxy Digital’s thought leaders across Research, Principle Investments, and other business units to identify opportunities for research and development
- Follow and identify innovations in the cryptocurrency ecosystem
- Manage a team of developers, designers, and product managers
- Report to the Head of Firmwide Research and Galaxy Digital leadership on the state of innovation initiatives conducted inside Galaxy Digital Labs
What We’re Looking For:
- Significant experience in cryptocurrency, entrepreneurship, protocol and/or software development, corporate innovation labs, or the cryptocurrency industry more broadly
- 7+ years’ experience in software development, successful entrepreneurship, security research, or corporate innovation
Bonus Points:
- Experience in corporate technology innovation, cryptocurrency entrepreneurship, applied cryptography, software development
- A deep interest in cryptocurrency, distributed protocols, and financial applications
- Ability to research emerging technologies and applications, conduct experimental design projects, and report on innovation initiatives to senior management
- Ability to manage an innovation group staffed with both full-time and contract developers, engineers, product managers, and designers
