As a fast-growing company with offices around the world, you’ll immediately see how your contributions directly impact both our internal users and client experience. Many of the problems we are solving result in trail blazing solutions which can’t be found on Stack Overflow; so we’re looking for engineers who flourish working in a complex domain.

Your mission will be:

  • Create and execute a technical vision that inspires your team to build and deliver excellent software for our customers.
  • Be accountable for engineering standards and their enforcement.
  • Take responsibility on key projects to ensure that they are technically sound and our teams can deliver them (from design to production).

  • Contribute to the Luno engineering architectural strategy, you’ll inspire our tech leads and drive adoption.
  • You’ll drive engineering excellence within your competency through mentorship, and leading by example.
  • You’ll form a partnership with product and engineering managers, ensuring that our platform is pliable, scalable and extensible.
  • You’ll be instrumental in building the engineering team as demand for more engineering capacity grows, and reshaping continuously to make us successful.

A little about you:

Building a new financial system for the world requires a special breed of people working together with unusual skill, focus and determination. “Moontality” represents the four core principles that underpin everything we do, setting us apart from the rest.

  • Proven experience as a senior or lead-level software engineer, with natural leadership skills and a temperament that leads to cohesion.
  • A strong understanding of computer science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms, system design at a global scale, as well as experience working in a mobile-first, product organisation.
  • A track record of driving technical change management, including leading the architectural and software practices among a team of software engineers across all levels of contribution.
  • Good skills and knowledge of collaborative leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • A diverse toolkit of techniques to help drive continuous improvement i.e. contribution to the open-source community, training and certifications, regular attendance at conferences and meetups where you continue to advance your software engineering skills and techniques.
  • Experience in designing and implementing change on large systems with high transactional throughput
  • A passion for software development, mobile technology and Bitcoin.
  • To be friendly, transparent, articulate and driven to succeed.
  • The right to work as we currently cannot provide sponsorship.

Don’t be put off if you don’t tick all of the boxes – they’re a guide based on what we’d love to see but we appreciate that excellent software engineers have diverse backgrounds.
