At Matter Labs, we are building zkSync: a blockchain scaling solution secured purely by cutting-edge cryptography. Our mission is to scale Ethereum to billions of users, fully preserving its most valuable properties — permissionlessness, trustlessness, and resilience, — in order to protect and enhance global economic freedom.

Our contributions over the last 3 years include the first ZK rollup ever built, the first implementation of recursive ZK proofs on Ethereum, and the world’s first practical FPGA-based ZKP accelerator. Most recently, we launched a zkEVM testnet, making zkSync the first ZK rollup capable of executing native Ethereum smart contracts.

The Role

The senior copywriter will be part of a team of editors, writers, strategists, designers, and project coordinators tapped to work with one of the most innovative companies in crypto. You’ll support a wide range of creative projects from ideation to execution.

In this role, you’ll be working closely with various teams, ideating and pitching creative concepts, and executing a wide range of creative projects. A little charisma in the room will be super helpful for this role.

Please note that we don’t do a lot of traditional ad campaigns. You’ll build your book here with super strategic work for a big buzzy brand, but if you’re looking to win a bunch of awards, this miiiight not be the right role for you.


  • Leading creative ideation processes across Strategy, Editorial, and Design
  • Developing high-quality creative assets across a range of formats
  • Collaborating with colleagues in Design, Marketing, and Strategy
  • Honing your inner anthropologist to become an expert on our audience (developers, retail, and potential future employees)
  • Pitching on-trend (and ahead-of-the-trend!) creative ideas
  • Pitching ideas and campaigns, both internally and externally
  • Responding with a GIF when it says so much more than words
  • Over-sharing pictures of your pet and/or unpopular opinions about the latest show/movie/album

Your Profile

  • 6+ years of experience in advertising or branding
  • Creative and out-of-the-box writer who comes up with better descriptions than “out-of-the-box”
  • Writes sparkly copy, adhering to brand voice and tone standards
  • Top-notch writing and concepting skills, in formats including positioning statements, taglines, brand naming, social media, web copy, employer branding, video scripts, and brand manifestos
  • Experience meeting deadlines while juggling multiple projects
  • Not shy about sharing your opinion with your team and manager (without being a jerk)
  • An enough-to-effectively-explain-this-stuff understanding of the blockchain industry, our target audiences, and how they like to consume content. Technical writing is a plus, but this position will focus more on brand and creative marketing
